Dharamsala is an interesting town in a beautiful setting, about 6,500 feet up in the
Himalayan foothills. This is where the Dalai Lama has his palace-in-exile, and it
contains a mixture of Indians and Tibetan refugees. It still has a '60s kind of feel,
with lots of counterculture types, dharma bums, and political activists working for
the Tibetan cause.
We were here for two days, attending teachings by the Dalai Lama and exploring the
town. This is a part of India that I'd definitely consider coming back to (especially
during the Dalai Lama's teachings!).
