Moonlight Valley

If you've ever wondered what the limit of a Canon S80 camera is, this is pretty much it. We had a full moon during our visit, so we drove up to the Tunnel View lookout point and tried some moonlight photography. This shot was taken at full wide angle, with the aperture wide open and a 15-second shutter speed, the longest the camera would do. I then processed it heavily with Neat Image to reduce the noise, made a copy with increased gamma and then HDR'ed them together. It's not a great image, but for a point-and-shoot camera it's not bad!

Note the light near the bottom of El Capitan in the center. We saw several lights from climbers spending the night on the face, and I was lucky enough to catch one in this photo.
